We took Haley to the pool  the other day in atempt to get some exercise. She did have fun. But when we took her out to eat afterwords she got sick as soon as she smelt the food. They told us smell could trigger nausea. Boy did it. We have been fighting it every since.

Haley has been taking has prochlorper and Lorazepam for nausea and they work great, but I can't get her to eat or drink. Nothing sounds good, and the smell of food makes her sick. If anyone has, any suggestions please post, them in the comment area below.

I work with a woman whose husband had bone cancer and she says they noticed canned fruit such as peaches or pears which is not too smelly was tolerable. It had to be chilled and using glassware only helped, plates and glasses. NO metal could be used, only plastic silverware. These seemed to help with the appetite issues. We are praying! God is able to do ALL things, Haley! We love you all.

Haley, you don't know me personally but I know of you through Chris Brown. My husband has worked for Exotic for many years and I head your story from Stacy S. and through my daughter @ LHS. I want you to know we have been praying for you for quite some time and will continue to do so. I have been trying to get together some type of a fundraiser with some of my Facebook friends to do something for you and your family. I would like to know if there are some specific items or tasks that you would like me and my family to take care of for you. Your story has inspired me and having a daughter your age also touches me deeply as a mother. I want you to know that many people are praying and believing for your recovery and healing. The Bible says when two or more are gathered...and girl you have wayyyyy more than 2. Keep your chin up and know that just because things look "not so hot" in the natural doesn't mean that God doesn't have it all under control in the spiritual realm. I would like to track you down some tapes specifically on healing, if that would be okay with you and your family. Please let me know and I will work on that this week. Also let me know of any other errands or items you may be needing at this time. Believing for a miracle for you, Larry, Heather, Sierra and Dakota Angst

Haley, What ever you want try it. If it sounds good it might taste good. My daughter Ashley would try different things till she found something she liked, then by the next treatment it would change. Mostly she liked cold things like icecream, frozen drinks like coolaid just what ever tasted good at the time. Just keep trying cause it is very important that you have liquids!!! If you ever want to talk to my daughter Ashley you can find her on facebook. She would love to talk to you. Lots of prayers go out to you. Keep the faith God will take care of you and your family. I can remember you when you was a little girl and you came to church with your mom to the Nazarene church. You and Bo were so little then. But time has changed that. You and Ashley are the same age so if you ever want to talk just look her up. Praying 4 u daily, The West family.

I wish I could have met you, I didn't see you. Darn. I was trying to look for photo ops for Sierra for her My Space and Facebook, LOL! I haven't found your tapes yet, my kids were out sick yesterday, but I will and I will get them to Chris. I also made some flair for Facebook with your picture on it to remind myself and others to pray for you each day. Do you have a Facebook? If so, I would love for you to add me. I also wanted to let you know I have been trying to send you emails on this site in the contacts email spot and it won't let me, I am not sure if it is my connection or a problem with the site. I hope you are feeling better and the nausea is subsiding. I will continue to pray for you each day. TTYL. Heather smilies/grin.gif

Scott, this is Alyson, Roberts aunt, i read this in the newspaper and found this site, when mom would take her treatments she couldnt eat anything and hold it down, the doctor told us for her to drink Ensure, so she would at least get vitamins, and jello and pudding, also late nite milkshake runs to arby's for mocha milk shakes. I emailed this to Robert he had no idea contact. We went thru 7 years of treatments with mom on a yearly basis. My prayers are with you and your family...

Hey there Scott and Deanna. This is Angie Coryell, one of the BB gang. I have been getting updates from my daughter Kirsten and through the prayer chain with the 1stUMC. It just made me sick to find out about this and what you must be going through. Kirsten is the same age and I just couldn't imagine what it must be like. I just wanted to let you know that if you need anything just let me know, I'm just right down the road over by Clarks Country Store. Do not hesitate to let me know, anything you two need. I mean anything. Tell Deanna if she needs anything at all that she can call on me. I will keep you in my prayers every minute of the day.

Nausea
0
Hi Scott,
Im sending a reply about what can you try for the nausea.
Maitake banishes nausea and boost energy. You ask what is this well its a Japanese mushroom that contains the food beta-glucan, which helps banish nausea and sharpens the appetite, boost energy while strenghtening the immune system WBC. This came from a Dr in Colorado whom is the founder of Helios Health Center. He has his patients take 2-3 droppers a day of such extract in a product called maitake D-fractor. Other extrxts of beta-glucan are available that may be derived from shiitake or reishi mushrooms as well as miatake. He also mentions drinking green tea or umeboshi tea.
I know if I have a home that smells bad I apply a thin layer of Vicks under my noise for the smell. If she could handle that it would be worth a try before eating to cover the smell of the food.
Here is other ideas..
Other Actions to Manage Nausea and Vomiting

There are several things you can do to help prevent nausea and vomiting.

First and foremost, make sure you receive and take your antiemetics as your doctor has ordered.

Let your health care professional know if your drugstore does not have them or if you are not sure how to take them. Also, call your doctor or nurse if you experience the following:
You have vomiting and cannot take your medication.
Your antiemetics help reduce your chemo induced nausea and vomiting, but may not completely eliminate your symptoms. The dose may have to be changed, or the doctor may change you to a different antiemetic.
In addition to taking your medication, the following general suggestions may help you prevent or control nausea and vomiting:
Try eating foods and drinking beverages that have been easier for you to take or have made you feel better when you had the flu, morning sickness, or were nauseated from stress. These might be bland foods, sour candy, pickles, dry crackers, ginger ale, or flat soda, for example. Eat small, frequent meals (five or six), instead of three large meals each day.
Do not eat fatty or fried foods, very spicy foods, or very sweet foods.
If possible, have somebody else make the meals when you are nauseated.
Do not eat your favorite foods when you are nauseated.
If you have nausea and vomiting for only a few days after chemotherapy, cook and freeze several meals that you can reheat during times when you are nauseated.
Eat foods that are at room temperature or cold. The smells from hot foods may make your nausea worse.
Keep your mouth clean; brush at least twice a day.
Consider shakes or liquid nutritional supplements to help maintain your nutrition.
Control chemotherapy induced nausea with relaxation techniques.
Ask your doctor or nurse if they can help you learn a relaxation exercise. This may make you feel less anxious and more in control, and may decrease your nausea.

Try maitake is has been known to banish nausea and boost energy
What I do for the smells is if I know I am going to a home to see a patient and the home has a smell is I rub Vicks under my nose. I know it sounds weird but it works.
